Concerns WA mining companies' environmental breaches are going unchecked

It was a moral dilemma. The mining company risked being fined $50,000 if it extended its open cut iron ore pit any closer to a protected tree on the other side of the ridge- but the dark blue patches of earth on the face of the exposed ridge indicated there was a possible profit of $2 million to be had.
