    Steel Cap Shoes

Does anyone know of any legislation or code that talks about when employees should wear steel cap shoes. For Example - in our Logistics/Stores area, should we have it mandatory that the employees wear steel cap shoes.

    Thanks

If a risk assessment has been performed and it is deemed that there is a high risk of injury, getting crush injuries ect then a risk management strategy has to be applied. Using the Hierarchy of control to eliminate this risk you may chose to use PPE because the other controls such as elimination, substitution can not be used. PPE is always the last resort and least effective.
If you deem that the PPE is steel cap boots then this need to be implemented through your SWMS, PPE policy.
