    Hours of work

    G'day all.

Need some help if i can

Is there any where i can find the MAXIMUM hours a person is allowed to work in a single shift, and consecutively?

Industry is Construction-Geotech drilling, and based in Victoria.

I have looked and search high and low, and can not find an answer, i don't really care about over time rates and what not, just the maximum hours allowed.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,

Until a more informed reply comes along. As far as I am aware (without researching etc) there is no maximum number of hours stipulated in OHS legislation although there are plenty of guidelines etc. I do know there are specific IR award requirements on the amount of time off between shifts.

It comes down to risk, what you think you will be able to justify to a judge in the event of an incident and the obligations of an employer to not place their workers at risk to their health and safety

    Regards

    Rod
